NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team looked to gain its second win on its six game road trip Tuesday evening, but the Manchester University Spartans got in the way taking the game 61-45.

After Kalamazoo scored the first three points of the game, the Spartans countered by going on an 11-0 run in three and a half minutes and ultimately held a 20-10 lead at the end of the first period.

The Hornets did their best to get back into the contest as they cut the lead to seven twice and eight twice, but the Spartans had an answer for each of the Hornets runs.

Manchester lead 31-19 at the half.

Trailing by just 11 going into the fourth quarter, Kalamazoo gave itself a chance down the stretch but Manchester's 63 percent shooting in the final period preserved the victory for the Spartans.

The Hornets shot 34 percent as a team in the contest.

Grace Smith recorded a team-high 17 points on 8-of-13 shooting from the floor. Kelsey Adamski also scored in double figures for the Hornets scoring 14 points.

Danielle Simon led the way on the glass corralling nine rebounds.

The Hornets are set to continue their six-game road trip on Dec. 18 when they take on Marygrove. The game is scheduled to be played at Lawrence Tech.
