Women's Basketball falls to non-conference foe

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team took a break from Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play Wednesday evening as the Hornets welcomed Rochester College to Anderson Athletic Center. The visiting Warriors defeated Kalamazoo, 75-49.

Kelsey Adamski had the Hornets on the right track early on scoring Kalamazoo's first six points of the game. Kalamazoo and Rochester were all square at 12 after the first quarter.

A quick 10-2 run to start the second quarter from the Warriors allowed Rochester to lead 35-24 at halftime.

Grace Smith pulled down eight rebounds, including five offensive, in the first half for K.

Rochester extended its once again in the third quarter leading 55-35 heading into fourth and the deficit proved to be insurmountable for Kalamazoo.

Claire Slaughter and Smith pulled down a combined 12 offensive rebounds giving the Hornets multiple second chance opportunities but Kalamazoo was unable to find an offensive rhythm shooting 27.3 percent from the field.

Smith and Slaughter finished the night with 14 and 11 rebounds, respectively.

Offensively, Adamski scored a game-high 19 points, notably going 7-of-8 at the free throw line.

Emily Kozal ended her day with 10 points and five rebounds.

Kalamazoo gets back to MIAA action this Saturday, Jan. 23 when the Hornets travel to Calvin.
