Women's Basketball drops opener to Dominican

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team fell to Dominican 62-58 in its home opener on Saturday.

The Hornets started the game strong, leading after the first quarter and taking a 37-25 advantage into the locker room at halftime after shooting 47 percent from the field in the first half. Dominican stormed back in the third quarter outscoring K 19-7 to tie the game at 44 heading into the fourth. The game remained close throughout the final quarter, but the Hornets were unable to pull ahead at the end and fell by a final score of 62-58.

Danielle Simon stuffed the stat sheet for K with 19 points, 12 rebounds, seven steals, and five assists to lead the team in each of those categories. Emily Kozal and Isabelle Clark each chipped in 10 points and Alayna Tomlinson pulled down eight rebounds for the Hornets.

Kalamazoo will return to the court November 25th on the road at Bluffton at 2 p.m.
