Women's Basketball's hot shooting overwhelms Alma

KALAMAZOO, Mich. The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team snapped a three game losing streak on Saturday with a strong offensive performance to defeat Alma 67-55.

The Hornets came out hot in the opening period, pouring in 24 points behind Isabelle Clark's 13 points on 3-3 shooting from behind the arc. The Scots cut into the lead in the second quarter, but went into halftime trailing 39-28.

Kalamazoo came out firing again in the third quarter, hitting 58.3% of its shots to increase its advantage. The Hornets cooled off in the fourth as Alma made a run to narrow the gap, but K was never truly threatened as the Scots were forced to foul in the closing minutes.

K had one of its best shooting games of the season, connecting on 43.6 percent of its shots including 60 percent of its shot from deep. Alma was held to 29.3 percent from the field and 19 percent from behind the three point line.

Isabelle Clark finished the game with a career-high 24 points on 8-13 shooting. Emily Kozal, the reigning MIAA Player of the Week, continued her hot shooting with 21 points. Danielle Simon had 12 points and 12 rebounds for her fourth career double double.

Emily Eldridge led Alma with 22 points off of the bench.

The Hornets will take on Hope on Wednesday, January 31st at home at 7:30 p.m.
