Women's Basketball leaves mark in record book

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – A number of members of the Kalamazoo College women's basketball team added their names to the record books this season after posting excellent seasons and careers.

Sophomore Mya Gough set a new single game program record for blocks with six against Saint Mary's and then broke her own record just weeks later as she rejected seven shots against Calvin. She amassed 41 total blocks on the season which ties her for second most in a season in school history.

Second Team All-MIAA selection Danielle Simon finished off her career having never missed a game for a total of 101 games played, good for fifth most in program history. An outstanding defender, Simon recorded 70 steals this season, third most in one year. Her 116 assists this season, which led the MIAA, is tied for most in single season and helped her to a career total 297, second best all-time. Truly an all-around player, she finished eighth on the all-time list with 530 career rebouns. Against Adrian, she recorded the league's only triple double this season with 16 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists.

Senior Emily Kozal, also a Second Team All-MIAA honoree, also left her mark on the program record book. She hit 46 three pointers this season, equaling her own mark from last season which is good for fifth most in season. For her career, she made 143 three pointers which puts her in third all-time. Kozal was a threat to score for the Hornets throughout her career. As a sophomore she was the MIAA scoring champion and this season finished second in scoring average at 15.6 points per game. In her career she amassed 1,156 points and climbed all the way to sixth on the all-time list.

K finished the season 9-16 overall and 6-10 in the MIAA.
