Women's Basketball Defeats MacMurray

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. - The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team defeated MacMurray College 57-55 at Manchester University Saturday afternoon.

Kalamazoo never led by more than six points and held a 28-25 lead at halftime. The score was tied 38-38 after three quarters and the teams exchanged leads in the fourth quarter with the Highlanders eventually leading by five (48-43) with 5:58 remaining. The Hornets used a 7-0 run to regain the lead with 4:08 left. MacMurray had a chance to tie the game in the closing seconds but the shot was blocked securing the Hornets' victory.

Kalamazoo shot 27.3 percent overall compared to 25.8 percent for MacMurray. The Hornets held a 56-48 advantage in rebounds while each team had 18 on the offensive end.

Isabelle Clark scored 23 points with a career-high 14 rebounds for her first double-double. She was selected to the All-Tournament Team.

Kaytlyn Tidey scored nine points with four assists. Georgie Andrews scored seven points with nine rebounds.

Sierra Fraser, Mya Gough, and Darby Scott each scored six points. Fraser pulled down 11 rebounds while contributing five assists. Gough broke her own school record with 11 blocked shots.

Kalamazoo returns home to face Manchester next Friday, Nov. 22 at 7:30 p.m.
