KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College Student-Athlete Advisory Committee announced Tuesday that Mya Gough of the women's basketball team was named this week's Hornet of the Week.

Mya was instrumental in Kalamazoo's defensive efforts in the lone game played this week. The senior forward collected 16 total rebounds with 12 of those coming on the defensive end. She also blocked seven shots and had one steal.

Gough now has 25 blocked shots in just five games. Her 5.0 blocks per game are the most in the MIAA. She is also averaging 7.4 rebounds per game which places her 10th in the league.

Gough has already broken her own school record for blocked shots in a game with 11 in a game against MacMurray this season. She is just 21 blocks away from setting a new single-season school record.

The Hornets return to play on Saturday, Dec. 7 when they host Olivet for the team's MIAA season opener at 3 p.m.
