Women's Basketball Defeated at Anderson

ANDERSON, Ind. - The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team was unable to hold on to its lead as the Hornets lost 65-55 at Anderson University on Monday.

Kalamazoo outscored Anderson in each of the first three quarters, but the Hornets were outscored 23-5 in the fourth.

After holding a slight lead most of the first half, Kalamazoo took a seven-point lead (36-29) into halftime.

The Hornets led by as many as 14 points (44-30) at the 6:36 mark of the third quarter before holding an eight-point lead (50-42) going into the fourth.

Anderson scored the first eight points of the fourth quarter tying the game at 50-50 with 4:54 remaining. Kalamazoo scored its first points of the quarter with 2:57 left to regain the lead (52-50). With the score tied again (52-52) with 2:35 remaining, Anderson outscored Kalamazoo 13-3 to claim the 10-point win.

Kalamazoo shot well early on but finished the game at 35 percent overall compared to 34.4 percent for Anderson. The Hornets sank 9-of-22 3-pointer (40%) compared to 8-of-21 (38%) by Anderson. The host Ravens sank 15-of-19 free throws compared to 4-of-7 for the Hornets.

Anderson held a 42-37 edge in rebounds, including 16-13 on the offensive end.

Kaytlyn Tidey matched her season-high with 19 points.

Isabelle Clark scored 13 points with four rebounds. 

Sierra Fraser scored seven points with nine rebounds while Georgie Andrews scored seven points with eight rebounds and five assists.

Mya Gough blocked seven shots while grabbing five rebounds.

Kalamazoo returns to MIAA play Saturday, Jan. 4 at Alma.
