KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The 2021 Kalamazoo College women's basketball team is primed to begin its season on Saturday, Feb. 6 as it steps on to the court for the first time since last February. The Hornets host Hope College inside Anderson Athletic Center to kick off a ten-game regular season schedule. Welcoming back nine returners and bringing in three newcomers, the squad looks to improve upon last season's 4-21 finish.

Preparation for the unusual season has been a learning curve for the Hornets, but Head Coach Katie Miller still has high hopes. "Everything this year has been a huge adjustment, but I've been so proud of this group for being so resilient and continuing to show up every day, regardless of circumstances, and work hard," Miller said. "We feel very fortunate to get out there and just compete."

Season Schedule

  • As a result of COVID-19 the women's basketball season will consist of ten games against MIAA opponents.

  • The Hornets open their season hosting Hope on Saturday, Feb. 6 at 2 p.m.

  • After a Feb. 11 home game against Olivet, the Hornets are on the road for back-to-back games at Adrian (Feb. 13) and Albion (Feb. 15).

  • Kalamazoo hosts consecutive home games when it plays Alma on Monday, Feb. 22 and Calvin on Wednesday, Feb. 24 for the last home contest of the season.

  • The MIAA Tournament is set to begin on Tuesday, March 2 and conclude on Saturday, March 6.

  • Spectators are not allowed at MIAA events at this time.

Quick Facts

  • Senior guard Isabelle Clark will look to make an impact following last season as the team's leading scorer with 14.3 points per game. Clark started in all 25 games in 2019-20 and totaled 50 three-pointers made, 30 steals, and 44 assists.

  • Junior Kaytlyn Tidey returns as another strong scorer for the Hornets. As a sophomore, Tidey averaged 11.8 points per game and led the team with 61 three-pointers.

  • The Hornets ended the 2019-20 season at eighth place in the MIAA, averaging 50.1 points per game. The squad's 38.3 rebounds per game were good for a spot at sixth in the conference.

  • Kalamazoo welcomes three new members to the team, freshmen Christiana Hunt and Sara English, and transfer Jayla Gill

Coaching Staff

Coach Miller returns to Kalamazoo for her tenth season as head coach of the Hornets. Miller has coached the Hornets to two of their most successful seasons since the early 2000s with 12 wins in 2013-14 and 16 wins in 2014-15. In addition to leading the Kalamazoo women's basketball team, Miller also serves as Kalamazoo College's senior woman administrator and chair of the physical education department.

Joining Miller on the coaching staff are Jessica Rauch and Danielle Simon. Rauch joined the Hornets with Miller in 2011-12 and previously served as an assistant coach at Albion High School and Albion College. Simon joined the coaching staff after finishing her playing career with the Hornets in 2018.
