Women's Basketball Drops Opener

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. – The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team opened its season on the road with a 60-43 defeat at the hands of the Manchester University Spartans Friday night.

Eleven Hornets scratched the score sheet, led by Kaytlyn Tidey's 11 points. Kaelyn Arlington, Kylah Davis and Haley Huckleberry each had five points for Kalamazoo (0-1). Jackie Brines paced the Hornets with six rebounds and Tidey recorded three steals and four rebounds.

Manchester took a 20-5 lead after the first quarter and stretched it to 37-17 at the half.

The Hornets shot 31.8% from the field (14-44) and 27.3% (3-11) from behind the three-point line. Kalamazoo outrebounded the Spartans 38-37.

Next up for K is a 7 p.m. tilt at Hiram College on Tuesday.
