HIRAM, Ohio – The Kalamazoo College women's basketball was defeated 67-47 by the host Hiram College Terriers Tuesday night.
The game started as a back-and-forth affair, with Laila Vincent's layup bringing Kalamazoo to within a point, 11-10, with 2:49 left in the first quarter. Hiram then went on a 13-0 run that extended into the second quarter before being ended by a Kaelyn Arlington layup with 8:21 remaining and Hiram owning a 24-12 lead.
Hiram took a 38-20 advantage into halftime, but Kalamazoo came out with its best effort in the third quarter. The Hornets (0-2) shot 54.5% from the field (6-11) and outrebounded Hiram 9-6 on their way to outscoring the Terriers, 15-12.
Hiram bounced back to outscore the Hornets 17-12 in the fourth quarter and end the Kalamazoo hopes of a road victory. Kaytlyn Tidey led the way with 16 points for the Hornets. Arlington tallied eight points and Vincent chipped in seven points and a team-high nine rebounds for Kalamazoo. Jackie Brines and Darby Scott each had a pair of assists for K.
The Hornets next contest is a road trip to Calumet College on Saturday, Nov. 27. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 p.m.
