Women's Basketball Wins in Overtime at Calumet

WHITING, Ind. - The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team won 80-76 in overtime at Calumet College of St. Joseph on Saturday. 

Trailing in the closing seconds of regulation, Kaytlyn Tidey hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to send the game to overtime. Kalamazoo trailed early in overtime before battling back and taking the lead for good on Laila Vincent's basket with 29 seconds remaining. Darby Scott's free throws in the closing seconds secured Kalamazoo's first win of the season.

Kalamazoo shot 36.2 percent overall for the game compared to 37.6 percent by Calumet. The Hornets made 12-of-29 3-pointers compared to 1-of-8 by the Crimson Wave. Kalamazoo sank 18-of- 22 free throws compared to 11-19 by Calumet.

Kaytlyn Tidey led the Hornets with 22 points and five assists.

Jackie Brines scored 16 points with four rebounds while Laila Vincent scored 15 points with 15 rebounds, three steals and three assists. Darby Scott added 10 points with four assists. Kaelyn Arlington scored eight points with 12 rebounds.

Zariah Frierson led Calumet with 39 points.

Kalamazoo returns home Sunday to face Eureka College at 3 p.m.
