Women's Basketball Defeated by Manchester

NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. - The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team lost 62-32 to Manchester University in the consolation game of Westminster's Teammates For Life Tip-off Tournament Sunday afternoon.

Kalamazoo trailed 7-4 after the first quarter and 12-11 with about four minutes left in the second quarter before Manchester scored 12 straight points to close out the half up 24-11. Kalamazoo closed the deficit to 11 early in the third quarter, but was unable to get any closer as Manchester extended its lead throughout the second half.

Manchester shot 33.8 percent overall while holding Kalamazoo to 23.5 percent. The Spartans held a 37-28 advantage in rebounds and scored 29 points off turnovers compared to just seven points off turnovers by the Hornets.

Sara English led Kalamazoo with 11 points and four rebounds. 

Josee Cooke added eight points with five rebounds. Kaelyn Arlington and Macy Ivins each scored four points. Arlington had a team-high eight rebounds.

Cooke was selected to the All-Tournament Team at the conclusion of the tournament.

Kalamazoo returns home to face Anderson University on Saturday, Nov. 19 at 1 p.m.
