OLIVET, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team lost the MIAA opener 67-42 at Olivet College Wednesday night.
Kalamazoo fell behind early and trailed 18-8 after the first quarter as the Comets shot 58.3 percent during the first 10 minutes. Kalamazoo trailed 33-17 at halftime. Kalamazoo was outscored by six points in the third quarter (21-15) and three in the fourth (13-10).
Olivet shot a season-best 45.2 percent overall from the field while holding Kalamazoo to 27.3 percent. Olivet also held a 43-36 advantage in rebounds.
Sara English led the Hornets with 10 points, four rebounds and three assists.
Jackie Brines scored eight points with nine rebounds and two assists. Kaelyn Arlington scored eight points with six rebounds.
Kalamazoo returns home to face Alma College on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 3 p.m.
