Women's Basketball Upended by Trine

ANGOLA, Ind. - The Kalamazoo College women's basketball team was defeated 82-42 at (RV) Trine University on Saturday.

Trine began the first quarter on a 13-1 run and led 22-9 after 10 minutes of play. The Thunder scored the first 15 points of the second quarter and led 49-17 over Kalamzoo at the half. The second half was more competitive as the Hornets scored 11 and 14 in the two quarters compared to 17 and 16 by Trine.

Trine shot 51.8 percent overall while holding Kalamazoo to 30.4 percent. Trine sank 9-of-19 three-pointers compared to 5-of-21 by Kalamazoo. Trine made 15-of-19 free throws compared to 9-of-12 by Kalamazoo. The Thunder outrebounded the Hornets 39-22 overall, including 11-4 on the offensive end.

Ruby Hogan led the Hornets with 14 points, eight rebounds, four steals, and two assists while making two three-pointers. 

Jordan Wesaw scored 10 points, and Sara English finished with six points.

Kalamazoo is back at home Wednesday when the Hornets host Alma College.
