Tyler Stewart '11 joined the Kalamazoo College coaching staff in the fall of 2023.
Playing for the Kalamazoo men's basketball team from 2007-11, coach Stewart played in 85 games with 70 starts in his career. His best season came during his senior year when he averaged 6.0 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.8 assists per game. He ended his career with 422 points, 260 rebounds, and 174 assists in his four seasons. He was also a captain and an NABC Honors Court member in his final two seasons.
Coach Stewart began his coaching career by being an assistant coach for the Kalamazoo men's team for the 2011-12 season. After that season, he turned his focus to his professional career as an attorney, where he is now an attorney and partner at DeMent and Marquardt, PLC in Kalamazoo. His areas of expertise are in estate planning, estate and trust administration, probate, and real estate.
After graduating from Kalamazoo with a degree in economics in 2011, coach Stewart received his law degree from Seattle University School of Law in 2015. He resides in Kalamazoo with his spouse, Kate Welke, who also graduated from Kalamazoo in 2012.
