Kalamazoo College women's golf Sydney Pickell was named the SAAC Women's Hornet of the Week on Wednesday (Sept. 7).
After the Polar Bear Golf Classic was canceled due to weather this past weekend, the Hornets' women's golf team picked up a dual match against Bluffton on Sunday. At the Hidden Creek Golf Club, Kalamazoo was defeated by a slim margin of three strokes, 354-351.
However, Pickell had a career round of golf by shooting a 75 on a par 72 course while still battling some weather. Pickell's previous career best came once in her freshman and sophomore seasons when she shot an 81 at Duck Lake Country Club in MIAA action.
Pickell shot the best score of the Hornets and nearly helped the team pull out the dual win.
Kalamazoo is back in action next at the Kyle Campbell Memorial Invitational on Friday (Sept. 9). Olivet hosts the event at The Medalist, and the first round will begin at 2 p.m.
