Brighton, MI - The Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse team defeated Defiance 14-1 during the team's opener on Friday afternoon. The Hornets are now 1-0 to start the season.
Kalamazoo jumped out to a 7-0 lead and held the Yellow Jackets scoreless until 17 seconds remaining in the first half. Kalamazoo added seven goals in the second half for the 14-1 win.
Kalamazoo outshot Defiance 27-12. Six different players scored for Kalamazoo, and sophomore Anika Sproull had a fantastic afternoon with five goals. Nicole Huff scored four goals on five shots while also recording a team high five draw controls.
The Hornets are scheduled to play their next game Tuesday, March 2 at home against Aurora.
