Women's Lacrosse falls to Oberlin

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio - The Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse team lost 20-6 to Oberlin College in non-conference play on Saturday.

Kalamazoo fell behind 6-1 midway through the first half before making it a 7-3 game with 6:57 remaining. Oberlin closed out the half up 11-5.

Oberlin held a 13-6 lead seven minutes into the second half before scoring the final seven goals of the game.

Oberlin outshot Kalamazoo 51-13 overall, including 42-10 on goal.

Anika Sproull led Kalamazoo with three goals and an assist on seven shots.

Vethania Stavropoulos, Cecilia DiFranco and Nicole Huff also scored for the Hornets.

Katie Johnson's 22 saves in goal was a new school record for the Hornets.

Kalamazoo (1-1) plays its home opener Sunday, March 8 against Benedictine University at 1 p.m.
