KALAMAZOO, MI - The Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse team defeated Alma 7-6 this afternoon. The win puts the team at 6-8 overall, and 4-4 in MIAA play.
In the first half of this game there was quite a bit of offense. The teams combined to score nine goals with the Hornets leading 5-4 at halftime. In the second half Kalamazoo lost the lead then tied the game with 12 minutes remaining 6-6. That score seemed to last forever as both teams scored goals that were then taken away after fouls were called and one stick check.
With under ten seconds remaining Kalamazoo's Daria Lewis was fouled and given a free position shot. Lewis found the back of the net to give Kalamazoo the 7-6 lead with only seconds remaining and that would do it for the Hornets.
Anika Sproull led the the team with four goals and Nicole Huff also added two. Katie Johnson saved nine of the 15 shots that came her way.
