Women's Lacrosse comes up short against Calvin

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse team came up a little short in a 12-8 loss to Calvin on Senior Day at MacKenzie Field.

Kalamazoo led 3-2 after the first 10 minutes of play, but the scoring picked up with 11 minutes remaining in the first half. Calvin scored three goals in six minutes to take a 5-3 lead, but Kalamazoo evened the score with a pair of goals just over a minute apart. The Knights followed with two more goals to take a 7-5 lead before a Kalamazoo goal with 12 seconds remaining made it a 7-6 game going into halftime.

Kalamazoo evened the score eight minutes into the second half before the teams traded goals to make it 8-8 with 16:13 remaining. Calvin proceded to score four consecutive goals over the final 10 minutes to take the 12-8 win.

Anna Dairaghi and Nicole Huff each scored three goals to lead the Hornets. Alivia DuQuet had a pair of assists.

Allia Howard had a team-high three ground balls while Cecilia DiFranco and Nicole Huff each had four draw controls.

Katie Johnson made 11 saves in goal while facing 23 shots.

Kalamazoo returns to action at Alma on Tuesday, April 23 at 4 p.m.
