The Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse program added Mallory Frysinger and Emily Heckendorf as assistant coaches in the fall of 2016, both hoping to contribute to the growing tradition of Hornet lacrosse due to their wealth of playing experience.

Frysinger joins the Hornets after a decorated playing career at the University of North Carolina.

She was named a First Team All-American by All-American Lacrosse Magazine in 2016 and was a Second Team selection by the IWLCA. As a four-year starter, Frysinger helped lead the Tar Heels to two National Championships (2013, 2016).

She served as a coach at the Carolina Lacrosse Camps from 2012-2016 and currently plays professionally with the Baltimore Ride.

More familiar with the area, Heckendorf served as the junior varsity women's lacrosse coach at Mattawan High School in 2016 and also helped coach the Western Michigan club team back to the playoffs for the first time in six years.

As a student-athlete at Concordia University-Wisconsin, Heckendorf led Concordia to the Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference playoffs in 2013, 2014 and 2015 and capped off her career with a tournament championship in 2015. She was a two-time All-Conference selection during her four year career as a starter.

Both Frysinger and Heckendorf reside in Kalamazoo.
