KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse team took home a convincing win in its first game of the season Saturday with a 15-2 victory over Wilmington.

Sam Jacobsen opened the scoring for K in the first half, but the Kalamazoo lead was only 2-1 with 25 minutes remaining after a Rachel Reinhart goal for Wilmington. The Hornets came alive after conceding that goal, however, scoring 10 unanswered goals to close out the first half. Amanda Moss led the way for the Hornets with a first half hat trick to help K build a 10-1 lead at the half.

The second half was more of the same for Kalamazoo as Sam Jacobsen and Rachel Madar finished off hat tricks of their own and Maddie Odom closed out the scoring off of a beautiful pass from Moss to power K to the 15-2 victory.

K outshot Wilmington 34-8 on the afternoon and also held an overwhelming 16-3 advantage in draw controls.

Amanda Moss was outstanding for K with three goals, one assists, six ground balls, four ground controls, and four caused turnovers. Sam Jacobsen and Rachel Madar each finished with three goals for the Hornets as well and Jenna Wolf chipped in two assists.

Katie Johnson and Gwen Davis combined to make three saves in goal for Kalamazoo.

The Hornets will be back in action on Saturday, March 3rd as they travel to Illinois Tech for a 2 p.m. game.
