Women's Lacrosse drops MIAA opener

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse was defeated 15-10 by Hope in its conference opener in windy, rainy conditions on Tuesday night.

Hope scored just one minute into the contest on its way to a 4-1 lead by midway through the first half. The Hornets, however caught fire with 13 minutes remaining in the half, scoring three goals in two minutes to tie the game up 4-4. 

The teams traded goals to put the game at 5-5, but Hope then scored six unanswered goals to grab control of the game. With 20 minutes left in the contest, Kalamazoo trailed 12-7, but Hope scored three straight goals to put the game out of reach. K scored three unanswered to close out the contest, but it was not enough.

Hope pelted the Kalamazoo goal with 44 shots, forcing goalkeeper Katie Johnson to make 19 saves to keep K in the game.

Amanda Moss led the Hornets with three goals, four ground balls, and three caused turnovers. Caroline Mundell, Sam Jacobsen, Hannah Meyers each scored a pair of goals for K.

Kalamazoo will be back in action on Saturday, April 7th as they take on Alma at 5 p.m. in the first half of a doubleheader at MacKenzie Field.
