Women's Lacrosse Falls to Hope

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse team suffered an 18-6 loss to Hope on Saturday afternoon. 

The Flying Dutch scored first in the contest before Mackenzie Maiorano had her first goal of the game to tie things at 1-1. Despite another goal from Maiorano at 8:17 and a shot by Hannah Heeren in the last five minutes of the half, Hope was able to take an 8-3 advantage into halftime. 

Kalamazoo got on the board twice more with goals from Heeren and Leah Tardiff, and a final goal from Hannah Wolfe with one second remaining. Hope outscored the Hornets 10-3 in the second half to secure the win and remain undefeated at 6-0. 

Hope outshot Kalamazoo 30-24. Kalamazoo collected 24 ground balls and won eight draw controls. They succeeded on three of their six free position shots.

Hannah Heeren and Mackenzie Maiorano each had two goals for the Hornets. Maiorano also picked up a ground ball and had an assist. 

Hannah Wolfe scored her second goal of the season and led Kalamazoo with six ground balls. 

Goalie Gwen Davis played for 53 minutes and had seven saves. Mae Scott made her first appearance in goal for the Hornets, earning one save. 

Kalamazoo is scheduled to play Adrian on Wednesday, March 24 at 7 p.m.
