The Hornets scored five unanswered goals at one point against their opponent. Rachel Madar led the charge with six goals scored, while Hannah Heeren had five and Leah Tariff scored two.

The Hornets led throughout the second half despite the threat from Trine as the Thunder kept scoring at an even 7-7 through most of the final 30 minutes. Kalamazoo still managed to outscore their opponents 8-7 with a goal in the final minute. Madar scored four more goals for the Hornets.
