Kalamazoo College's Hannah Heeren was named MIAA Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.
A sophomore from Belmont, Mich. (Rockford HS, Heeren helped the Hornets in a pair of games last week. She scored seven goals with one assist, four ground balls, eight draw controls and three caused turnovers in a 16-2 win over Earlham on Sunday. In a one-goal loss to Aquinas on Saturday, Heeren recorded 11 ground balls, five draw controls and two caused turnovers.
On the season, Heeren is second on the team with 19 goals and two assists. She also has 19 ground balls, 19 draw controls and six caused turnovers.
The Hornets (3-1) are scheduled to be back in action Saturday, March 12 at Concordia Chicago.
