Abbie Caza of the Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse team was named the SAAC Women's Hornet of the Week on Wednesday (Mar. 1).
The women's lacrosse team traveled to Ohio Northern for its second road game to open the 2023 season. The Hornets played the Polar Bears close, but a big third quarter by ONU resulted in an 18-15 defeat for Kalamazoo.
Caza just began her first collegiate season for the Hornets and came to Kalamazoo from Beverly Hills, Mich. She led Kalamazoo with six goals in the contest out of the eight shots on net. Caza scored one goal in the first, three in the second, and two in the fourth. She totaled nine shots while also picking up a ground ball and causing a turnover in the game.
In two games this season, Caza has scored 12 goals, collected 13 points, and shot the ball 23 times with 20 having a chance to score to lead the team. She has also added an assist, six ground balls, and a caused turnover to her stat line.
Kalamazoo will travel to Illinois Tech on Saturday (Mar. 4), with the game beginning at 1 p.m.
