Women's Lacrosse Falls at Trine

ANGOLA, Ind. - The Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse team was defeated 20-11 at Trine University Friday night.

Kalamzoo led 3-2 midway through the first quarter before three consecutive Trine goals gave the Thunder a 5-3 lead. Trine led 6-4 at the end of the quarter.

Kalamazoo scored the first goal of the second quarter before four straight Trine goals made it 10-5 in favor of the Thunder. Kalamazoo scored the next two goals leading to a 10-7 halftime score.

Trine outscored Kalamazoo 6-2 in the third and 4-2 in the fourth leading to the 20-11 final.

Trine outshot Kalamazoo 45-28, 34-20 on goal. Trine won 20 of the 34 draws and made 5-of-13 free position shots. Each team had 26 ground balls.

Hannah Heeren scored three goals with two assists and seven draw controls.

Ella Spooner scored three goals with an assist and five draw controls. Abbie Caza also scored three goals with an assist.

Jordan Doyle led the Hornets with six ground balls.

Jordan Flink made 14 saves in goal.

Kalamazoo returns home to face Saint Mary's College on Wednesday, April 19, at 7 p.m.
