Hannah Heeren Named MIAA Women's Lacrosse Specialist of the Week

Hannah Heeren of the Kalamazoo College women's lacrosse team was selected as the MIAA Women's Lacrosse Specialist of the Week on Monday (Apr. 22). This is the sixth time that Heeren has earned a Player of the Week honor, with five coming on the defensive side and a total of four coming this season.

Kalamazoo continued MIAA play with a home game against Albion on Apr. 16 and a road game at Saint Mary's on Apr. 20. The Hornets fell to the Britons 18-8 before defeating the Belles 20-12.

Heeren made her mark on the offensive and defensive sides of the field with 11 goals, an assist, eight ground balls, 21 draw controls, and three caused turnovers. She tied a program record with 10 goals in a game against Saint Mary's while also having 11 draw controls, four ground balls, and three caused turnovers in the win. Rachel Madar also had 10 goals in a game against Trine in 2021. Heeren currently sits in the top 10 in the MIAA with 117 draw controls (1st), 49 goals (2nd), 75 shots on goal (2nd), 62 points (3rd), 25 caused turnovers (5th), and 36 ground balls (9th) while also adding 13 assists.

In the record books, Heeren has the fourth most draw controls, eighth most assists, ninth most points, and 11th most goals in a season from this year. In her four-year career, she has collected the most points (264), second most goals (215), second most assists (49), second most draw controls (330), and second most games played (59). 

The Hornets will finish the regular season and conference play with a home game against Trine on Wednesday (Apr. 24) and a road game at Adrian on Saturday (Apr. 27).
