The Kalamazoo College women's soccer team lost 2-1 at Hope in the MIAA opener on Thursday.
Hope scored the game's first goal in the 23rd minute.
Jackie Short tied the score at 1-1 in the 39th minute with her first goal of the season. Alex Groffsky was credited with the assist.
The score remained tied through halftime and 21 minutes into the second half before Hope pulled ahead with a goal in the 67th minute.
Despite outshooting the Flying Dutch 12-9 overall (6-4 on goal), Kalamazoo was unable to score again before time expired.
Kalamazoo returns to action this Saturday, Sept. 15 with a 12 p.m. contest at Albion College.
