Kalamazoo College's Karen Timm was selected as the MIAA Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.

A junior from Saginaw (Heritage HS), Timm played a critical role in helping Kalamazoo record two shutout victories for the week – 1-0 over Olivet and 6-0 over Albion. She also scored the game-winning goal on a free kick with seven seconds remaining in the second overtime to lift the Hornets over Olivet.

Timm is being honored as Player of the Week for the first time this season and in her career.

"I'm very proud of Karen's achievement," said Kalamazoo College Head Coach Bryan Goyings. "She has displayed some great resilience, recently returning from an injury sustained earlier in the year. It is nice to see her recognized for the role she has played in our team's success the past several games."

Kalamazoo returns to action on Tuesday, Oct. 22 at Adrian College.
