The Kalamazoo College women's soccer team took care of business Tuesday evening as they defeated St. Mary's by a final score of 4-0 at MacKenzie Field.

Madison Moote gave the Hornets the lead less than two minutes into the game when she finished a ball played in by Sydney Spring. Moote's goal was her seventh of the season, matching her total from last season.

After heading to halftime 1-0, the Hornets struck for three more goals in the second half all within 13 minutes of each other. Sarah George struck a ball into the top right corner to give the Hornets a 2-0 lead in the 52nd minute.

11 minutes later, Raechel Schmidt scored her second goal of the season giving K a 3-0 lead. Katie Sorensen capped off the scoring for Kalamazoo in the 65th minute.

Grace Smith recorded her fifth clean sheet of the season for the Hornets as she ended the day with three saves.

"It was great to get an early goal to begin the game but I thought our second half was much better and it was great to see Raechel find the back of the net," Kalamazoo Head Coach Bryan Goyings said. "This time of year it is important to earn points and continue improving as some critical games await us in the next several weeks."

Kalamazoo will face a tough test this Saturday, Oct. 17 when Calvin comes to MacKenzie Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
