KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Looking to get back to its winning ways Tuesday evening in the final regular season home game of 2016, the Kalamazoo College women's soccer team drew Alma, 1-1, and earned a point in Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association play.

The Hornets opened the game's scoring when Suzanne Miller's volley from the top of the 18 floated into the left corner of the goal in the 9th minute. Allie Brodsky was credited with an assist.

Kalamazoo's lead lasted just seven minutes, though, as Whitnee Foote found the back of the net in the 16th minute for Alma.

While neither team was able to make the breakthrough down the stretch in what turned into a physical affair, Kalamazoo carried the run of play recording 11 more shots than the Scots in the second half and overtime combined. The two teams combined for 26 fouls, but no cards were shown.

"I was pleased with our effort but as a group we just seem to be missing on the execution, specifically the final pass," Head Coach Bryan Goyings said. "It is often the toughest part of the game and something that will be important for us to improve on in training moving forward."

Kalamazoo, still in first place in the MIAA and six points ahead of second place Hope, will finish the regular season on a three-game road trip. The Hornets begin the stretch this Saturday, Oct. 22 when they travel to Adrian College for an 11 a.m. kick.
