KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's soccer team defeated Milwaukee School of Engineering 3-1 in their season opener Friday night.

After a scoreless first half, K found themselves trailing early in the second half after MSOE's Jeray Riffel converted on a penalty kick in the 66th minute. Five minutes later, the Hornets tied up the game with a goal by Larkin O'Gorman. Libby Munoz followed up this goal with one of her own in the 77th minute, after a strike off the post by O'Gorman, to give Kalamazoo it's first lead of the evening. Kai Ketola connected with the third goal of the night thanks to a great pass from Munoz.

K finished the game with an 18-14 advantage in shots. Hannah Wolfe had five saves in goal and earned her first win of the season.

"I was very proud of how the team responded after we went down a goal," said coach Bryan Goyings. "The defense was solid throughout the match. Georgie Andrews had an excellent clearance at 0-1 that kept the deficit and that was critical to our win today."

The Hornets will return to MacKenzie Field on Saturday when they will play host to Carthage at 5 p.m.
