KENOSHA, Wis. - The Kalamazoo College women's soccer team fell to Carthage College Saturday evening by a final score of 3-1.

Carthage carried a 1-0 lead into the halftime break thanks to Morgan Verbeten's first of three goals on the evening.

Libby Munoz tied the match in the 64th minute on her first goal of the season.

Verbeten connected on two more goals in the 69th and 73rd minutes to hand Carthage the victory.

Carthage outshot Kalamazoo 13-11 during the match and had 10 shots on goal compared to Kalamazoo's five.

"The quick turnaround was a big challenge and I thought that we started quite well today," said Coach Bryan Goyings. "After giving up the first goal, our immediate response in the form of a strike by Libby (Munoz) and pass from Kai (Ketola) was superb. It is critical that we build off our experiences as we embark on another collection of games this coming week."

The Hornets return to play on Tuesday, Sept. 3 at Elmhurst at 8 p.m.
