HOLLAND, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's soccer team won 2-0 at Hope College Tuesday night in an MIAA Tournament semifinal to advance to Saturday's MIAA Tournament championship match.

After playing to a 0-0 tie at Hope earlier in the season, the two teams played a scoreless first half again Tuesday night with Kalamazoo holding a 4-3 edge in shots over the first 45 minutes.

Kalamazoo got on the board first with a goal in the 61st minute as Kai Ketola battled past a Hope defender after receiving a pass from Julie Zabik.

A corner kick in the 70th minute was headed by Julie Zabik to Libby Munoz who headed it in for Kalamazoo's second goal of the game.

Hope ended up with an 8-6 advantage in shots, however the Kalamazoo defense did not allow a shot in the final 23 minutes of play.

Hannah Wolfe made four saves in goal to earn the shutout.

"I'm extremely proud of the group tonight," said Head Coach Bryan Goyings. "Hope is an excellent team and it is never easy to play at their place. To win and win decisively is a testament to the drive and determination of the group.

"The team defending was once again a major factor in tonight's win," added Goyings. "I thought we did a very good job limiting their offensive opportunities throughout the game."

Kalamazoo will travel to Adrian for the tournament championship this Saturday, Nov. 9 at 7 p.m. Adrian, top-seed in the tournament, defeated Albion 5-2 in the other semifinal Tuesday night.

"We are excited about the opportunity to play for an MIAA championship and will begin preparing for a very good Adrian team tomorrow."
