Emme DeConinck and Hannah Wolfe honored as Scholar All-Region

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Emme DeConinck and Hannah Wolfe of the Kalamazoo College women's soccer team were named to the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-North/Central Region Team on Thursday afternoon.

To be eligible for Scholar All-Region, players are required to have maintained a 3.40 GPA or above throughout their playing career, started in more than 50 percent of all games and contributed significantly to their team.

DeConinck, a junior from Bloomfield Hills, Mich. (Marian HS), and Wolfe, a senior from West Bloomfield, Mich. (Bloomfield Hills HS) were the only MIAA women's soccer players to receive the honor.

DeConinck, a biology major, started in all eight games this season as a dominating force on the Hornet defense while balancing life as a dual-sport athlete as she was a starter on the women's lacrosse team. She received All-MIAA Second Team honors at the conclusion of the 2021 season.

Wolfe is also a biology major and was the primary goalkeeper for the Hornets for her third straight season, totaling 783 minutes in goal. She compiled a 6-3 record with 29 saves and a save percentage of .853. Wolfe was also a starter on the women's lacrosse team this spring. She received All-MIAA First Team honors and was the Senior Sportswoman of the Year for MIAA women's soccer.

"Hannah and Emme are both extraordinarily disciplined and determined individuals," Head Coach Bryan Goyings said. "On the field, they filled major roles throughout the season that allowed our team to have a notable level of success. In addition to these contributions, it is fantastic to see them recognized for the serious investment that they have put into their academics. Oftentimes it is easy to focus on wins and losses, however, these types of awards serve as a tremendous reminder of the phenomenal collection of students that make up the women's soccer team at the college."
