Chicago – The Kalamazoo College women's soccer team started the road portion of its schedule and fell at the University of Chicago by a score of 3-0 Saturday afternoon.

The Hornets faced a manageable 1-0 deficit at the half, but Chicago scored twice in the first 15 minutes of the second half to effectively salt the game away.

"Chicago was an outstanding team and we really struggled to keep up," said Kalamazoo head coach Bryan Goyings. "They were well prepared and forced us to defend for long periods of the game. The efforts of Frances Trimble and Erin Somsel made in the midfield allowed us to compete at times."

Chicago, ranked No. 15 in the most recent poll, outshot the Hornets 22-1 and had a 13-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Lexi Nesbitt had six saves in goal for K.

"Lexi was extraordinary in goal with numerous stops to keep us in the game," said Goyings. "The toughness she displayed is something I hope that our team can embrace and build on."

Next up for Kalamazoo (4-1) is a road trip to Illinois Tech on Sunday the 19th.
