Chicago – The Kalamazoo College women's soccer team took to the road and claimed a tough 1-0 victory over host Illinois Tech at Stuart Field Sunday afternoon.

Senior Larkin O'Gorman tallied the game's only goal in the 45th minute. The goal, scored just seconds before the end of the first half, gave the Hornets (5-1-0) an impressive victory and dealt the Scarlet Hawks just their second loss in eight decisions this season.

"It was a total team effort," said K head coach Bryan Goyings. "O'Gorman's beautiful free kick gave us an advantage right before halftime. Emme DeConinck, Erin Somsel and Anna Murphy did a great job staying organized and limiting the opponent's chances."

Junior goalkeeper Lexi Nesbitt recorded five saves and the shutout, while Savera Rajendra-Nicolucci paced the Hornets with three shots.

"Illinois Tech did not make things easy and I was pleased that we found a way to get a result (Sunday)," Goyings said.

The Hornets will once again fire up the bus and head to the Windy City when they visit North Park University on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
