ALBION, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's soccer team lost its MIAA opener 1-0 at Albion College Tuesday night.

Albion outshot Kalamazoo 17-9 in the contest, including 8-2 on goal.

The Britons scored the game's only goal in the 29th minute.

Destiny Garcia led the Hornets with three shot attempts, while Kai Ketola had two. Each had one shot on goal.

Madison Barch made seven saves in goal in her collegiate soccer debut.

"I want to acknowledge Madison Barch," said K Head Coach Bryan Goyings. "She stepped in and really played well in goal for us this evening.

"We played well at moments tonight, but we lacked consistency. Albion converted their best opportunity and deserves credit for a hard-earned win. Every game in the league is going to be tough, and we need to improve before facing a tough Adrian team on Saturday."

Kalamazoo returns home to take on Adrian College on Saturday, Oct. 2 at noon.
