ADA, Ohio - The Kalamazoo College women's soccer team traveled to Ohio for its third straight game, taking on Ohio Northern on Wednesday afternoon (Sept. 14). The Polar Bears are receiving votes in the top-25 poll and showed why by defeating the Hornets 3-0.

Kalamazoo was under constant pressure in the first half as Ohio Northern led in shots 6-2. The Polar Bears got one of those shots to go in the 26th minute to grab the game's first goal. Unfortunately, the Hornets could not get either of their shots on the frame as ONU took that one-goal lead into halftime.

The home team worked quickly to begin the second half, scoring another two goals in the 52nd and 64th minutes. Kalamazoo got its only shot on goal in the second frame, but the Ohio Northern defense kept them in check. In the end, the Polar Bears were too much and handed the Hornets their second loss of the season.

Lexi Nesbitt (2-2-2) made six saves on nine chances in the loss. Ohio Northern had more shots (14-4), corner kicks (2-1), and fouls (10-7) for the game, while Kalamazoo collected more saves (6-1).

"Ohio Northern is an excellent team, and today we were not at our best," said Head Coach Byran Goyings. "I give them credit for being ready to play, and their start to the second half was tough to match. We have had a challenging stretch of games on the road, and I look forward to seeing how the group responds tomorrow."

Kalamazoo will wrap up non-conference play tomorrow (Sept. 14) by taking on Elmhurst in Illinois, beginning at 8 p.m.
