KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's soccer team hosted No. 11 Calvin for its final regular season home game and senior night. The Knight jumped on the Hornets quickly by scoring three goals in the first half en route to a 4-1 win. Seniors Lexi Nesbitt, Hannah Durant, and Alexis Petty were honored for their four years at Kalamazoo before the game.

Calvin dominated the first half over Kalamazoo by spending most of the time in their offensive zone. The Knights created 14 scoring opportunities compared to the Hornets' single chance, with half of them scoring or being saved. The first goal came in the 10th minute from a set piece from a corner kick. Seven minutes later, a Calvin striker hit a ball from the top left corner of the box that ended up in the top right corner of the net. Then, the final goal of the half came in the 35th minute after the shot prior was blocked and ended up on the foot of a Knight. Calvin took the three-goal lead into the locker room as the rain started to come down more steadily.

After a rousing speech at the half, the Hornets increased their intensity in the second half. Kalamazoo matched Calvin in the number of shots taken at seven as play started to go from goal line to goal line. However, in the 71st minute, the Knights scored their fourth goal of the game from the top of the box and under the crossbar. Six minutes later, the Hornets countered with a goal of their own, the first the Calvin has given up all season. After Ellie Andrews sent a corner kick into the box, Maddie Coffman slid the ball over to Holly Bowling for the goal. Bowling was waiting for a pass near the back post and put away her team-leading fourth goal of the season. Play continued as both teams created more chances, but the final whistle blew with the scoreboard reading 4-1, Calvin.

Nesbitt ended up with six saves on 10 opportunities for the game. Calvin finished with more shots (21-8), corner kicks (9-2), and fouls (10-5), while Kalamazoo had more saves (8-1).

The Hornets will conclude the regular season with a road trip to Adrian, Mich., to face the Bulldogs on Saturday (Oct. 22), beginning at 3 p.m.
