Women's Soccer Falls to Chicago

CHICAGO, Ill. - The Kalamazoo College women's soccer team played in a true road test on Saturday (Sept. 9) by traveling to play Chicago. The Maroon scored four times within 23 minutes on the game clock as the Hornets fell 4-1. 

Kalamazoo made one adjustment to the starting lineup, inserting Cassidy Short in with Elana MitchellMaddie CoffmanEllie AndrewsOlivia DePauliSavera Rajendra-NicolucciAnna MurphyElle BernasHolly BowlingIzzy Kastel, and Ruby Hogan. The Hornets also rotated 14 subs off the bench throughout the game.

The Maroons were peppering the goal, taking nine shots compared to the Hornets' one in the first 33 minutes. Then, just like that, Ella Cho scored twice within a minute to help Chicago to a 2-0 lead. Right before halftime, the Maroons got another goal off the foot of Josie Majowka for a 3-0 advantage.

It did not take long for the fourth goal to be scored as Hannah Rittenhouse put the ball in the net in the 57th minute. Kalamazoo got one goal on the board in the 88th minute as Bowling scored her first of the season. Mitchell made seven saves on 11 chances in the net.

Kalamazoo will continue its road stint at North Park on Friday (Sept. 15), beginning at 6 p.m.
