Ruby Hogan of the Kalamazoo College women's soccer team was named the SAAC Women's Hornet of the Week on Tuesday (Oct. 10).
Kalamazoo continued its MIAA schedule with two road games at Hope on Oct. 4 and Olivet on Oct. 7. The Hornets dropped the first game to the Flying Dutch 2-1 before pulling out a 5-0 win over the Comets.
Hogan made a difference on both sides of the ball this past week, collecting three assists offensively and helping with a shutout over the Comets defensively. One of the assists came against the Flying Dutch, and the other two came against the Comets. All three assists came off corner kicks, and a fourth was headed in by an Olivet defensive player as well. In her first collegiate season, Hogan has started all 12 games in the back line for the Hornets and is tied for the team lead in assists. She is also close to scoring her first goal, as seven of the 15 shots she has taken this season have been on the net.
The Hornets will continue conference play with two home games against Trine on Tuesday (Oct. 10) and Saint Mary's on Saturday (Oct. 14).
