Camille Misra of the Kalamazoo College women's swimming & diving team was selected as the MIAA Women's Swimmer of the Week on Monday (Oct. 10). Entering her senior season as a Hornet, this is Misra's second time earning the distinction with the other coming in the 2019-20 season.
The women's swimming & diving team traveled to Saginaw Valley to compete in a tri-meet, including Alma. At the meet, the Hornets defeated the Scots by a score of 197-84 and then were defeated by the Cardinals 232-66. This competition was the season opener for the Kalamazoo swimming & diving teams.
After taking first in the 100 and 200 Back competitions, Misra had a great day in the season's first competition. Her time of 58.57 in the 100 race currently ranks as the fifth fastest in all of NCAA DIII. She also ranks fifth in NCAA DIII in the 200 event and finished with a career-best time by four seconds after swimming a 2:07.76. Misra also swam in two relay events: the 200 Free Relay and the 200 Medley Relay. The team of Misra, Mya Richter, Hailey Yoder, and Olivia Bagwell finished second in the 200 Free Relay with a time of 1:44.11. The 200 Medley Relay team came in fourth after posting a time of 1:54.84, which included Misra, Richter, Mary Ellen Muenzenmaier, and Frannie Turner.
The Hornets compete again on Friday (Oct. 14) in a dual at Albion, beginning at 5 p.m.
