Women's Swimming & Diving Defeated by Slim Margin to Albion

ALBION, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's swimming and diving went on the road to face Albion in an MIAA dual on Friday evening (Oct. 14). The Britons narrowly defeated the Hornets with the score reading 120-118.

Kalamazoo had 22 top-three finishes in the 13 events, including five in first place, 10 in second place, and seven in third place.

The Hornets swept the top three spots in the 1-meter dive. Sarah Densham (209.40), Sam Vande Pol (204.75), and Becca Zoetewey (185.60) went one, two, three for Kalamazoo. It was the same story in the 3-meter, with the order going Vande Pol (211.80), Densham (210.75), and Zoetewey (184.90).

Winning the first swimming race for the Hornets was Katie Rock in the 1000 Free at 11:48.06. Next, Camille Misra picked up a win in the 100 Back at 59.79, and then the team of Ava Williams, Hailey Yoder, Frannie Turner, and Mya Richter rounded out the first-place tallies in the 200 Free Relay at 1:46.25.

The second-place finishes in the swimming events started with the 200 Medley Relay team of Misra, Turner, Mary Ellen Muenzenmaier, and Olivia Bagwell at 1:55.92. Coming in second individually was Yoder in the 1000 Free (12:10.26), Lizzy Silber in the 200 Free (2:08.89), Turner in the 100 Fly (1:04.07), Richter in the 100 Free (57.70), Lena Klemm in the 100 Back (1:10.05), Rock in the 500 Free (5:52.63), and M. Muenzenmaier in the 100 Breast (1:14.02).

Coming in third was Williams in the 200 Free (2:08.89), Misra in the 50 Free (25.26), Bagwell in the 100 Free (58.68), Katie Larick in the 100 Back (1:10.40), and Yoder in the 500 Free (5:54.46).

The Hornets will next compete at the MIAA Relays, hosted by Calvin, on Friday (Oct. 21).
