Camille Misra of the Kalamazoo College women's swimming & diving team was named the SAAC Women's Hornet of the Week on Tuesday (Nov. 8).
After a week off, the Hornets traveled to compete in a two-day meet at Davenport. Kalamazoo took fourth at the meet and had 13 top-eight finishes in the 14 events.
Misra collected the lone Hornet win on the women's side in the 100 Back. Her 59.20 time is just behind her season-best at 58.57, the second fastest in the MIAA. Misra also took second in the 50 Free and 200 Back. Her time of 24.92 in the 50 Free was her fastest this season, and she currently sits in ninth of the MIAA. Additionally, Misra swam a 2:10.11 in the 200 Back, a couple of seconds off her fastest time this season, which is second-best in the MIAA. She was also a part of four relays that placed within the top eight of their events. Those relays were the 200 Free, 400 Free, 200 Medley, and 400 Medley.
Misra has been named MIAA Swimmer of the Week twice in her career. In her first season, she was a member of the 400 Free Relay that finished second and the 200 Free Relay that finished third at the MIAA Championships. The following season, she captured an individual honor by placing second in the 100 Back at the MIAA Championships.
Kalamazoo will host its first of two events this season on Friday (Nov. 11) at 5 p.m. The tri-meet will also have Calvin and Olivet competing in the Natatorium.
