Women's Swimming & Diving Hosts Calvin and Olivet in Home Duals

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Kalamazoo College women's swimming and diving hosted its first of two home events this season on Friday night (Nov. 11). The Hornets competed in two duals against Olivet and Calvin, splitting the two results. The team first defeated the Comets 176-54 before falling to the Knights 149-88.

Kalamazoo had 16 top-three finishes in the 13 events. Kalamazoo swept the top three spots in the 1-meter and 3-meter dives. Sarah Densham took the top spot in the 1-meter at 225.38 points, while Sam Vande Pol (210 points) and Sofie Santos (195 points) took the other two spots. The same three finished in the top three in the 3-meter but in a different order. Vande Pol finished first at 237.07 points, with Santos (209.70 points) and Densham (208.50 points) following.

Camille Misra was the lone swimmer to win an event, taking first in the 50 Free and 100 Back. Misra swam 24.90 in the free race and 58.97 in the backstroke. She was also in the 200 Medley Relay with Katie Larick, Frannie Turner, and Mya Richter as the team finished third at 1:55.99.

Rounding out the rest of the top-three finishes were seven third-place honors. Katie Rock swam an 11:42.50 in the 1,000 Free race, and Lizzy Silber finished in 5:38.79 in the 500 Free for the two long races. Silber also took third in the 200 Free at 2:04.83. In addition, Anni Schnell had two third-place finishes in the 50 Free at 25.76 and the 100 Fly at 1:02.99. Rounding things out for Kalamazoo were Turner in the 200 IM at 2:21.35 and Richter in the 100 Free at 57.35.

The Hornets' next event will be the three-day Calvin Invitational on Dec. 1-3 to finish up the 2022 portion of the schedule.
