The Kalamazoo College women's swimming & diving team had a quartet of individuals selected to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team, as announced on Tuesday (Feb. 28). The student-athletes selected were Sarah Densham, Camille Misra, Mya Richter, and Sam Vande Pol.

To be selected for the award, the student-athlete must be a starter or an important reserve with at least a 3.50 cumulative GPA, have played at least 50% of their team's competitions, and be at least a sophomore academically and athletically.

Densham was part of a 1-2 punch for the Kalamazoo divers with Vande Pol. The top scores for the senior in 2022-23 were 227.40 in the 1-meter (six dives), 226.34 in the 3-meter (six dives), 374.45 in the 1-meter (11 dives), and 391.90 in the 3-meter (11 dives). This season, she was also a two-time MIAA Women's Diver of the Week. She double majors in English and psychology and holds a cumulative GPA of 3.86.

As the team's top swimmer, Misra swims in the backstroke and freestyle races for Kalamazoo. Her top times this season were 24.24 (50 Free), 54.92 (100 Free), 5:22.03 (500 Free), 26.66 (50 Back), 56.57 (100 Back), and 2:04.51 (200 Back). In addition, Misra was an All-MIAA performer, set new school records in the 100 and 200 back, and was selected MIAA Women's Swimmer of the Week once. She is a business and French dual major with a 3.79 GPA.

Richter was also a solid swimmer for the Hornets, swimming in freestyle and butterfly races. Her best times in 2022-23 were 25.18 (50 Free), 54.98 (100 Free), 2:02.97 (200 Free), and 1:07.86 (100 Fly). Double majoring in business and Spanish, she has a cumulative GPA of 3.61.

The other part of the diving duo was Vande Pol. The top scores this season were 238.04 in the 1-meter (six Dives), 252.90 in the 3-meter (six Dives), in the 1-meter 406.10 (11 Dives), and 413.45 in the 3-meter (11 Dives). Vande Pol was also an All-MIAA honoree and a two-time MIAA Women's Diver of the Week. She majors in biology and holds a 3.71 cumulative GPA.

Now that the four student-athletes have made the district team, they will move on to the CSC Academic All-American ballot, which will be announced in March.
